Longview's New Food Cart Hub Was Built for the Rainy Season, and October Is Its First Real Test

October 15, 2026

The Table opened at the height of summer, but it was built for weather like this month's. Its soft opening was Saturday, Aug. 1, at 1212 Tennant Way in downtown Longview. The building is a former brake repair shop, and the project took more than a year to finish. Most of that work went into things a sunny August evening never needed, like a roof, walls, insulation, and a way to keep people warm on a wet Tuesday.

That makes October the first month that shows what The Table is meant to be. A food cart lot usually feels like a fair-weather place. This one was planned as a room that people go into, with food carts parked around it.

An August Opening for a Building Planned Around November

The owners, Chris and Natalie Senn, are lifelong local residents who run Kelso Taco Time. The Daily News reported that their family has been running TacoTime franchises in the area for nearly half a century. That kind of experience shows in a practical choice. They kept the old garage as an enclosed dining room instead of tearing it down to open pavement.

In 2025, The Daily News described the plan for the former shop's dining area. It would get roll-up doors for open-air dining in mild weather. A later Daily News story added that the space would be insulated and heated or cooled as needed. The Table's own website now describes the result in its own words:

"The Table provides guests with indoor seating and multiple covered outdoor seating areas with climate control to keep guests comfortable during all seasons of our varying PNW weather."

So the roll-up doors are for days that are nice enough to open them. The rest of the year, the doors stay down. The dining room keeps working, and so does the covered outdoor seating, since it is climate-controlled too.

What the Old Brake Stop Became

The Daily News says the site was once called Brake Stop. It is now a food truck lot and tap house at the corner of Commerce Avenue and Tennant Way. The tap house matters because it gives people a reason to stay after they eat. It pours a rotating list of beers and ciders and also carries canned drinks, wine, and nonalcoholic options.

The building also has an event space with large tables that can be booked for private parties. That is a useful thing to know heading into the holidays. Office parties, team dinners, and birthdays usually need a reservation somewhere with a single check. At The Table, each guest can order from a different cart.

The posted hours are the same every day:

  • Tap house: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Food trucks: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Closed: major holidays

The carts close an hour before the taps do. If you arrive at 8:15, you can still get a drink, but you won't get dinner. The Table says it is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Its site doesn't mention a separate fall or winter schedule, so the hours above are the ones it currently lists.

A Roster That Has Grown Since Opening Day

A room you can sit in through the winter only matters if the food gives you a reason to keep coming back. The Daily News reported four carts at the Aug. 1 soft opening, and the Senns called those first days a soft opening. The Table's food truck page now lists seven vendors, plus two more marked as coming.

Cart What it serves Where it stands
Tacos El Cholo Tacos and Mexican food Opening-day cart, still on the roster
Shawarma Express Mediterranean Opening-day cart, still on the roster
Waffle Time Belgian-style waffles Opening-day cart, still on the roster
Bobablastic Bubble tea and snacks Opening-day cart, still on the roster
M24 Sushi Sushi On the current roster
Smash Burgers Burgers and fingers On the current roster
Dhaba Indian Kitchen Indian food On the current roster
Esan Thai Thai food Listed as coming soon
Hibachi Hibachi Listed as coming soon

All four opening-day carts are still listed. That suggests the newer carts were added to the lineup without pushing anyone out. No two carts on the roster serve the same kind of food. A table of four can order sushi, a smash burger, Indian food, and a waffle, then sit down together.

The roster page isn't dated, and food cart lineups change. Esan Thai and Hibachi are both marked coming soon, and nothing on the site says when either one will start serving. Before you plan a night around a particular cart, check The Table's food truck page.

Why the Corner Works at Lunch

The location helps explain why the place needed to work year-round and not just on summer weekends. The Daily News placed The Table across from Longview Auto and Tire and two properties from Longview Fire Department headquarters. It also noted that the site is close to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center and the downtown businesses, and the owners told the paper that the traffic and nearby workplaces could make it a lunch destination.

People still need lunch on a weekday in November, whatever the weather. Carts open at 11 a.m., the dining room is heated, and nine kinds of food are either serving or on the way. For anyone working near Commerce and Tennant, that makes it a realistic midday option all winter, not just on clear days.

Saturday Evenings Through October

The Table has also started booking its weekend evenings. Its October calendar has live music on three Saturdays, all from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

  1. Oct. 3: Mason Gaul Music
  2. Oct. 10: Tony Jones The Performer
  3. Oct. 17: Cloudshine
  4. Oct. 31: Halloween, with details still to come

The sets start at 5:30, which leaves time to eat before the carts close at 8. Tony Jones plays tonight, Saturday, Oct. 10. The events page doesn't list anything for November yet, and the Halloween details haven't been posted. Bad weather won't cancel any of this, since the dining room has a roof and heat.

Making a Longer Night of It Downtown

Because The Table sits on Commerce Avenue, dinner there can easily turn into a longer evening downtown. Two shows in the second half of October are close by.

Stageworks Northwest, at 1433 Commerce Ave., is running a stage adaptation of 1984 on weekends from Oct. 9 to 25. That leaves two more weekends after this one.

The Columbia Theatre, at 1231 Vandercook Way, has Phat Cat Swinger on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. and Liverpool Legends on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. Its November listings include the 46th Annual Seattle Comedy Competition on Nov. 20 and George Michael Reborn on Nov. 27, both at 7:30 p.m. With carts serving until 8 p.m., you can eat early at The Table and still make a 7:30 curtain if you keep an eye on the time.

The Downtowners' Harvest Fest is also on today, Oct. 10, in the Merk parking lot at Hudson Street and 14th Avenue, with vendors, live music, children's activities, a costume contest, and a beer and wine garden. The organizer's page lists it from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you go to both today, the Harvest Fest is in the afternoon and The Table's music runs from 5:30 to 7:30.

The Table opened this summer, but it was built as a heated room for Longview's wet months. Over August and September, its lineup grew from four carts to seven. October is its first stretch of the rainy season, and most of its regular evening lineup so far is booked for this month.
